Subject: cheesy movies & slide rules
As long as we have decided to talk about cheesy movies and slide rule sightings,
yesterday morning on MST3K they showed the movie: The Giant Spider Invasion
Although there was not a slide rule used by the actors, in the lab of Dr. Langer
there was a very nice 7 foot Pickett demo slide rule hanging over the blackboard.
I'll have to see the movie again to see if I can determine the model.

I might as well put in other sightings of slide rules I've seen on the old electronic
baby sitter, a/k/a the boob tube....

There were several TV shows that featured slide rules:

My 3 Sons, Steve Douglas being an aeronautical engineer was required to use a slide rule.
I have noticed him using bamboo slide rules, since I now need reading glasses I couldn't
tell what make.  But since I'm a "Pickett Man" myself, let's just say that he was using a B1.
The other day I did notice him using a white Pickett metal slide rule.  The end plates were
a dead giveaway.

For cheesy TV shows, The Brady Bunch takes the cake. Mike Brady being an architect
used a slide rule, but since the show was low budget (who else has astro-turf for a backyard)
Mike used a plastic Pickett slide rule.

Maybe we can persuade Walter Shawlee II to put up a new section in the Slide Rule Universe for
other "sightings", I think it would be interesting to see how large the list can become.
