Greetings all!
I was watching "The Deadly Mantis" on our Sci-Fi channel just now and was treated to the appearance of a Versalog SR (Hemmi or K&E because of its "L" shaped end braces). It was being used first by one "scientist" at a meeting in the Pentagon. I roared with laughter because the poor nebbish was holding the Rule very gingerly, as if he thought that it would explode in his hands at any moment! :-) It was ridiculously obvious that he didn't know how to use one. Later in the movie, the main character was actually giving the appearance that he knew how to use it.
It makes me wonder though, if only we could look at these shots in a close up, how many Slide Rules would we see being held UPSIDE DOWN! :-)=)
If you get the chance, do watch the movie. Those scenes are funny as heck, and overall the rest of it isn't that bad.
Cheers to all! Larry Stewart, in the deep Northern freezer!
