Greetings,
I got this message from Bob Otnes, and am passing it on to the list:
Michael:
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, a K&E slide rule was found on the battleship Arizona. While not really functional, it had survived.
It was sent to K&E, who had it framed.
When Jack Burton (VP of marketing, see articles) left K&E, he took it with him... the new owners were not interested in such.
When Jack died, his family had us auction off his incredible collection, including the Arizona rule. It was sold, though I do not recall to which OS member. I did not bid on it: seemed to be somewhere between grisly and hallowed.

Closing note: I mentioned earlier that I saw the movie "Pearl Harbor" last night. There is a scene where Jimmy Doolittle is deciding whether or not to bomb Japan. His assistant pulls out a slide rule to calculate the fuel/distance calculation for him. I could not see what the slide rule was, as it appeared they were faking its presence!
Regards,
Michael
