MGM Tom & Jerry cartoon "Designs On Jerry" (1953), included on the videotape collection "Tom & Jerry On Parade" from Turner Home Video.
"Build a BETTER MOUSETRAP and the world will beat a path to your door."
In his attic, Tom is finishing his new mousetrap design. Around him are classic instruments of engineering: a large drafting table with his blueprint design, scales, compass, a nice heavy black pull-lever adding machine and... A slide rule! He even uses it (and the adding machine) to complete a quick calculation for a detail on his drawing.
It looks like a ten-inch rule, clearly a duplex with a thick white body, must be a laminated wood or plastic rule. The simple cursor has rounded white indicator bars. Maybe a Dietzgen 1725?
