I stumbled across an old Sci-Fi movie, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, on TV yesterday. There's a scene near the beginning in which a scientist is calculating the results of a nuclear test. He's using a white simplex rule and making notes on what appear to be maps spread out on a table. There is also a round object that may be a circular rule, or perhaps a pen chart from a radiation measuring device.
